How to use Snapchat’s ‘Snap Maps’ in real estate

NEW YORK – July 13, 2017 – Snapchat’s new Snap Maps taps into a users’ location services and offers new opportunities for real estate professionals to connect with clients and prospects.

Snap Maps displays a Bitmoji icon (a personal emoji) to show a user’s location in real time, and the icon moves on the map as the user travels. Agents can use Snap Maps to show their location – a tool to inform clients and prospects of their latest listing’s street and neighborhood.

Because the feature displays a user’s location with great precision, however, it’s important for agents to keep safety in mind: Keep Snap Map on when actively conducting business, but consider turning on “Ghost Mode” or privacy mode when leaving the office or traveling around during personal time.

Agents can also use Snap Map to send periodic pictures during open houses, advertise the event on their social media pages and invite users to watch the event on Snapchat. The tool allows agents to provide a unique behind-the-scenes approach to open houses.

Snap Maps can even be used to show off the local area, with agents uploading snaps to Our Story when attending shows, eating at their favorite restaurants, visiting a museum and more.

To be effective as a tool to attract new clients, they should use location-based geofilters to narrow down their area, and they should add text to help users who aren’t Snapchat friends find them.
